A SEASONAL wildlife and landscape exhibition will feature artwork inspired by the areas lead mining heritage.

Jo Garlick, from Masham, will showcase her work – influenced by the surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales – at The Station in Richmond.

With a keen interest in local life and history, her landscapes focus on farming and lead mining.

The Station will house the work, which was built in 1846 to transport lead ore from the lead mines in Swaledale.

She said: “I am fascinated by the way the landscape has been shaped by this industry and what was once a hive of industrial activity is now being reclaimed by nature.

“The wildlife is amazing to watch and continues to thrive and survive in these sometime harsh, bleak places.”

This is Jo’s first solo show of her predominantly pastel paintings, after exhibiting there with groups.

A ‘Meet the Artist’ night will be held on Saturday from 10.30am until 3pm, and the exhibition runs until October 18.
