PHOTOGRAPHS depicting some of the best loved sites in the Yorkshire Dales, have been brought together for a charity calendar raising cash to support the area.

Seasonal scenes from all corners of the Dales are featured in the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust 2018 calendar.

The images were brought together through an annual photography competition run in collaboration with Yorkshire Cottages – a long standing supporter of YDMT.

Fundraising officer Sarah Pettifer, said: “We are very grateful to all the talented individuals who shared their favourite images with us.

“With over 200 entries we were spoilt for choice, but fortunately local photographer Steve Finch helped us with the tricky task of judging. We are thrilled with the finished result which is a real celebration of the Yorkshire Dales.”

Mr Finch added: “I was looking for pictures which were unequivocally ‘Dales’, were technically of a good standard and of course make you go back and have a second look.”

Paul Hunter’s shot of harvest time near Semer Water scooped first prize, while Remco Rog from the Netherlands took second place, with a dramatic photograph of Dentdale.

All the design work for the calendar was carried out for free by North Yorkshire-based design and web agency Fever Digital.

Creative director Jonny Priestley said: “We are very lucky to live and work in this fantastic part of the world, and it’s a pleasure to give something back to the area by supporting YDMT.

“We’ve been involved in producing the charity calendar for the last six years, and each year we’re excited to see the chosen photographs - I think that this year’s selection is better than ever.”

Yorkshire Cottages director Drew Dunn said: “We are proud to continue our support for the Dales Millennium Trust. Over the years we’ve donated more than £20,000, supporting a lot of fantastic work across the region.

“This competition has become an annual tradition which we are happy to be involved in year after year.”

The calendar is on sale now and all money raised will support important work to protect and enhance the area for future generations, from education and outreach to heritage conservation, habitat restoration and grants for rural communities.

  • The calendar is available to buy online at £10 (including delivery) at ydmt.org/shop or by calling 01524-251002.
