A FUN day aimed at breaking down barriers between the public and the emergency services will take place in Richmondshire this weekend.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has joined forces with the ambulance to stage the event at Richmond School from 10am to 3pm tomorrow.

Police, the Catterick bomb disposal team, Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team and Richmond Cadets will also be at the free event, which aims to raise awareness of the life-saving work carried out by the emergency services.

As well as being an opportunity to chat and ask questions, there will be demonstrations and a chance to get up close to rapid response vehicles, motorcycles, police dogs and a police tractor.

Other highlights will include stalls, vintage fire engines, bouncy castle, ice cream, barbecue and a raffle.
