THE search to find the best mum in Wensleydale is over - and the winner has earned herself a tasty treat.
Four local businesses - Milners Store, Penleys Bistro, Lamberts Florists and Campbell’s - joined forces and organised a competition aimed finding the area’s extra-special mum.
And after being nominated by her daughter Emily, Lisa Martin, a financial manager from Leyburn, was named as the winner.
She received £100 worth of vouchers for Milners, together with an evening meal for two and a bottle of wine at Penleys along with a colourful bouquet of flowers from Lamberts.
Co-organiser Leonie Garrard said: “We all think that our mums are special and it was a difficult decision but we thought that Lisa deserved to win.”
In her nomination, 14-year-old Emily - who attends Wensleydale School - said her mother was very supportive to her.
The runner-up was Barbara Pickard after being put forward by her daughter Emily. She won £50 of Milners’ vouchers and lunch for two at Penleys.
Easter egg prizes donated by Cambell’s were also be awarded to selected entrants.
