ORGANISERS of a history project are appealing for descendants of First World War veterans to help them honour their memory.
The Middleham and Dales local history group is calling on families of people listed on the veterans’ plaque in Coverham church or at Carlton memorial hall to help them record the stories of the men involved, to commemorate the centenary of the end of the war.
Member Val Slater said:”My grandfather, Richard Walls, served along with his four brothers.
“He didn’t do anything extraordinary after the war but he had survived, albeit with a small injury, to marry, work and contribute to his community.
“Dick’s place, and other people’s relative’s place in history shouldn’t be forgotten.”
