A MAN from North Yorkshire has won the 2017 Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Young Chefs Competition.
George Marsh, 24, from Swinton Park, near Masham, was announced as the winner during a prestigious awards ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel.
He fought off tough competition from talented young professionals across the UK to scoop the award and will now go on to represent Great Britain at the international finals this September.
Head of judges Daniel Galmiche said: “George’s presentation was excellent and well thought through, blending flavours and texture. I am delighted to see the overall standard rising each year alongside a strong appetite from our contestants for skills development and presentation.”
The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is an international gastronomic society dedicated to bringing together professionals and non-professionals from around the world who appreciate wine, cuisine and fine dining.
The competition was first organised by the Chaîne in Switzerland in 1977 to promote young chefs by giving them the chance to develop and demonstrate their skills
The award follows the announcement that Swinton Park’s executive chef, Simon Crannage, is to be promoted by the GB Chaîne des Rôtisseurs to Officier Maitre Rôtisseur in recognition of his long-standing support.
