THE Leyburn Arts and Drama Society has given out awards to members who have been outstanding this year.
Sue Smith was named best actress, Emma Towning took an award for promising newcomer, Martin Crowson for best actor and Ron Smith was honoured for all-round achievement.
LADS have also made plans to perform at the Dales Festival of Food and Drink in Leyburn in June, and at the town’s 1940s weekend in July.
Society chairman Carrol Thomas said: “LADS has been operating since beginning in 1897, started by the Honourable Lucien Ord Powlett at the Bolton Arms in Leyburn and stopping only for the two great wars, with only short breaks in between.”
He added: “If anyone has any information of LADS from the 1950s or 1960s I would be grateful to hear from them on 01969-640689.”
