TWO racing stable workers from North Yorkshire have been announced as finalists in an industry awards.
June Palmer Kimpton, who works at Castle Hill Stables, Middleham, is shortlisted for the David Nicholson Newcomer Award; and Hayley Kelly of Mark Johnston Racing, also in Middleham, is a finalist for the Leadership Award.
As finalists, each are now guaranteed a share of the £120,000 prize money, with every penny won being matched and shared amongst their yards by sponsors Godolphin.
The awards, organised by the British Horseracing Authority, recognise the dedication and skill of more than 6,000 members of stable staff nationwide who provide first class care and attention for the 14,000 racehorses in training in Britain.
Ms Palmer Kimpton is a highly competent jockey who has just achieved her amateur licence, while Ms Kelly is yard manager running a team of 55 horses and 14 staff.
Both are down to the final three in their categories, with the final judging on Monday, February 20.
