AFTER four years, the man at the top of the Richmondshire Scouting movement has retired.

Taking over as District Commissioner of Scouts for Richmondshire in November 2012, Richard Good has worked tirelessly in the role ever since. Along with his wife Sheila, Mr Good has spent more than 100 years of dedicated service as leaders in the organisation – for which they have both received awards for their long service.

Despite leaving the role Mr Good will keep his links with the Swaledale Scout Group which he and Mrs Good had been involved with for 23 years. He will also continue to support the newly-established cub pack at Hawes.

Mr Good cites the highlights of his tenure as having two Queen’s Scout awards given to Richmondshire’s young people, and attending Windsor Castle when Mrs Good received her award from the Scouts.
