A FARM-BASED children’s nursery has raised £700 at its first fundraising event for its charity of the year.

High Bank Day Nursery, in Stapleton near Croft-on-Tees recently received an outstanding status from Ofsted and decided to choose Herriot Hospice Homecare as its first-ever charity of the year.

The nursery recently held a fundraising fair for the North Yorkshire charity.

It included children’s football, face painting, tombola and raffle. There were also stalls, bacon sandwiches and tea and coffee were also served.

Nursery manager Hayley Grainger said: “The fayre was well supported by parents, families, friends and the wider community, and we raised an amazing £700. It’s a great way to celebrate achieving outstanding status and choosing to support, for the next year, a fantastic local charity like Herriot Hospice Homecare.”

Alexandra Weighell, fundraising manager said: “As a local charity, we are reliant on the kind generosity of people to enable us to provide our services in Richmondshire and Hambleton, and £700 will go a long way.”
