A SMALL animal charity which rescues unwanted rabbits and guinea pigs has received a £5,000 grant from the UK’s largest grant-giving animal charity.

Bunny Burrows, based in Richmond, North Yorkshire, has received the grant from Support Adoption for Pets which will go towards the centre’s vet bills.

The charity takes in rabbits and guinea pigs with the aim of rehoming them after a thorough health check.

The independent welfare charity was set up in 1996 at the home of Gwen Butler and her late husband John to help rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals.

Amy Wilson, charity manager at Support Adoption for Pets, said: “It is a real privilege to help an organisation that works so hard to care for and rehome rabbits in need.

“They are doing a superb job and the effort the rescue puts in is an inspiration.”
