A NEW artist is being supported by a Richmond gallery after it agreed to support her framing costs.

Megan Watling is showing her equestrian acrylics at the Station, Richmond, until early January as part of the charity’s Art of Christmas Present exhibition.

Ms Watling first came to the attention of gallery manager, Thea Treweek, in the summer when her work proved popular with purchasers during A Spot on the Wall, where numerous artists exhibit; replacing their work with another piece as it sells.

“Megan’s work really caught my eye,” said Ms Treweek. “Her minimal, fluid lines completely capture the movement of the horse and rider, and their simplicity is stunning. We’re very pleased to have been able to encourage Megan to progress from taking a single space on our gallery walls in July, to being part of a select group of artists exhibiting numerous pieces here over Christmas.”

Ms Watling is a former pupil at Richmond School, and the school has joined the Station in sponsoring her framing costs.

“My work has developed from a life-long love of horses and drawing as a hobby," she said. The Art of Christmas Present exhibition runs until Wednesday, January 4.
