A TAXI driver was attacked and robbed in a Yorkshire Dales town by his passengers.
The driver, from York, was robbed on Bellerby Road in Leyburn at 5.50am on Sunday.
He was assaulted and an unspecified amount of cash was stolen.
North Yorkshire Police officers are now trying to find a yellow "Emirates" cloth cash bag in the Leyburn area which was taken during the robbery.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
A police spokeswoman stated: “Police were called at 5.50am on the morning of Sunday, October 9 to reports that a taxi driver from York had been robbed in Leyburn by his passengers. The driver was assaulted and an amount of cash was taken.”
