A BIG name in the music world travelled to a remote part of the Yorkshire Dales to perform at Britain’s highest pub.

The Hoosiers travelled to The Tan Hill Inn recently, which sits in a remote spot at 1,732ft above sea level in Arkengarthdale. There the band performed a gig for 200 fans, many of whom camped at the dramatic spot.

The gig took place in the Tan Hill Inn’s recently refurbished barn, which has been refurbished since being damaged by storms.

The Hoosiers are the first of six major music acts booked to play the venue.

On November 18, Scouting for Girls will be playing a gig at the Swaledale pub for BBC Children in Need. Four other major bands are expected to play there over the next 12 months and their names will be announced soon.

The bookings were made after months of negotiations by the pub and investment in sound equipment in order for the bands to be able to perform full live gigs, instead of scaled back acoustic concerts.

A spokesperson for the pub said: “The guys took to the stage and did around 90 minute full set of all their songs and then joined the fans in the pub later for autographs and a chat.

“They stayed over and said our venue was unique and would love to play again next year - which we are sure to book.”
