AN EXHIBITION of work by the late Norman Cornish, famed for depicting industrial life in the North East, will take place at the Garden Rooms Gallery, at Tennants.

Tennants Auctioneers, Leyburn, has a strong record of selling works by Cornish, whose work gave an insight into life in mining communities has made him one of the most important contemporary artists of the region.

The exhibition, called Norman Cornish: Bishop's Close Street, named after his family home, is being launched in association with the Cornish family and Beamish Museum.

A preview night and lecture will be held on July 28 at 6pm, with a talk by Robert McManners, co-author of The Quintessential Cornish. The exhibition will run until August 28. Tickets to the preview cost £12. To book call 01969-621146 or email info@tennantsgardenrooms.com.
