AN image of a lone sheep standing on a snow-covered hill has overcome competition from hundreds of breathtaking shots in a Yorkshire Dales photography competition.
The Yorkshire Cottages teamed up with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust contest invited people to submit their favourite views of the national park and attracted 500 entries.
Les Fitton, of Bolton, said he had been stunned his photo of the sheep had won after judges said it captured living and working in the Dales in winter.
He said: “I took that photo on a claggy day on Ingleborough. I’m gobsmacked to hear that I’ve won!”
The best images will be used in the trust’s 2017 charity calendar which will celebrate the Yorkshire Dales throughout the seasons, which will be on sale from August at ydmt.org/shop
