AWARD-winning Dales artist John Hunter is celebrating after once again having all of his submissions accepted for display at a prestigious London exhibition.

Mr Hunter, who lives in Grinton, near Reeth, and is also a musician, has been exhibiting at the Aviation Paintings of the Year at the Mall Galleries annually since 2002, and is one of just 60 full members of the Guild of Aviation Artists.

He has previously won best watercolour and has been runner up for the best picture award.

He said: "This year I have painted two tributes to RAF firefighters through the years, and also four tributes to test and research pilots including the late Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown, who has opened this exhibition in the past, and Tim Peake, the British astronaut."

The exhibition is held between July 18 and 24 at the Mall Galleries, London.

Mr Hunter displays a range of artwork which includes not only aviation, but rural studies, portraits and landscapes, at his Grinton studio, and they can be purchased from several local outlets.

His work will also be seen shortly in the Richmond Station Spot on the Wall exhibition in addition to a one-man exhibition he is mounting next spring.
