A BROWNIE group has learned about healthy eating with the help of a local GP surgery.

The Central Dales Practice helped Hawes 1st Brownies to achieve their Healthy Eating Badge after being approached by Brown Owl Carol Hall.

Practice manager Lynn Irwin and healthcare assistant Joanne Iveson created a session for the group looking at healthy versus unhealthy food.

Ms Irwin said: “We talked about healthy snacks and making these fun and tasty, undertook an activity with the Brownies sorting photos of food into healthy and unhealthy piles, tasted many different fruits and discussed these.

“The Brownies all designed their own healthy eating posters and these are proudly displayed in our surgeries.

“At the end of the meeting we gave each Brownie a goody bag containing a bottle of water, a piece of fruit, a butternut squash, healthy snack ideas, recipes, information on healthy eating and a Change for Life Sugar Swap pack.

“It was a great evening, the Brownies were all very interested and very well behaved.”
