PEOPLE are being urged to get into the festive spirit while joining the fight against heart disease by taking part in a Christmas fun run.

The British Heart Foundation is holding its annual Chase the Pud fun run in Richmond on Sunday, December 6 at 10.30am, this year from a new starting point at Richmondshire Cricket Club and finishing in the Market Place.

The festive fundraiser is open to adults and children, and is free to children under 14. Those taking part can complete one or five mile run, jog or walk.

Last year, events across the country saw more than 1,000 people don Santa costumes and chase the Christmas pudding in cities across the UK, raising more than £27,000 for life saving research.

Carl Jones, fundraising manager for Chase the Pud said: “When you think of Christmas pudding, you probably don’t think about running after one, but Chase the Pud is a great way to work up an appetite for the festive period."

Chase the Pud is suitable for all ages and the route is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs and can be finished at the participant’s own pace.

Tickets for Chase the Pud Richmond are available now and are £10 for adults, which includes a Santa suit. Children are encouraged to dress up for the event as their favourite Christmas character.
