A SKI team is on a high as it prepares for the prestigious British schools’ finals for the fourth time in a row.

On the heels of returning from the English Championships in Norfolk, Richmond School and Sixth Form College’s under-19 girls’ teams will now represent England in the British Artificial Slope Schools Skiing Championships, in Pontypool.

The team, comprising Honor Clissold, Cara Websdale, Mia Cole and Annabelle Wright, won their age group at the regional heat of the event, at Silksworth Ski Slope, in Sunderland with Honor taking overall second place and Mia third.

The school fielded three teams of four racers in Sunderland. The under-16 boys’ team of Jack Dean, Ben Webster, Harvey Websdale and Tom Cole, enjoyed a clean sweep, with Harvey, Ben and Jack taking first, second and third places.

Isabel Bushell, of the under-16 girls’ team, skiing with Hannah Speakman, Jodie Dangerfield and Emily Riley, took second place in her age group.

The boys’ team hopes to compete in the British Schoolboys’ competition in Switzerland and the girls in the British Schoolgirls’ Championships in France this winter.
