A WALKING and books festival is hold a free evening of poetry and prose by local authors.

The Richmond Walking and Book Festival, from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, October 4, is hosting the event at the Black Lion in Finkle Street, Richmond on Thursday, October 1 at 7.30pm.

Local writers, including the Wensleydale Writers Group; Mark Stott, who will talk about his book Richmond by Rhyme; Marcus Turner, a Gaelic speaker who will read from his poetry collection Deo; and John Barton Watson, author of Pools of Gold, whose poems manifest his lifelong love of the nature and outdoors.

A Festival organiser said “This is a great opportunity for lovers of creative writing to come along and enjoy a free poetry and prose evening in Richmond. We have a varied mix of authors lined up for the session, but they all share a passion for the written word and an enthusiasm for their craft which will ensure a fantastic and enjoyable evening for all.”
