A MEMORIAL golf day has marked its 10th and final event by raising more than £2,000 for charities - and has racked up almost £28,000 since the inaugural tournament.

The David and Mandy Reed Memorial Golf Day on Friday, July 24 raised £2,311 for the British Heart Foundation, UK Prostate Charity and this year the Andrew Jackson Trust for Young Golfers, which has been set up in memory of a keen golfer who died earlier this year.

Mr and Mrs Reed’s children Louise and Sam, along with Mr Reed’s brother Paul Reed, have organised the successful event at Richmond Golf Club for the last ten years and said they wanted it to end on a high note after netting £27,761 in total.

Louise Reed said: “We would like to thank all of the local businesses and friends of the family that have supported the day over the years.

“Andrew Jackson was a close family friend – Andrew regularly thrashed dad on the golf course and Sam and I grew up with Andrew as part of our extended family so it was very important to support his family and memory.

“Sam, Paul and I are overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received and are so proud to have had such amazing parents that clearly were important to so many.”
