SOME 64 walkers pulled on their hiking boots to raise more than £4,200 for two charities.

Holiday home owners at the Chantry Country and Leisure Park at West Witton trekked to Penn Hill to raise cash for the park’s chosen charities.

The walk, which took about two and a half hours to complete, offered the mostly novice hikers the chance to take in the beautiful surroundings and was led by experienced owner George Young.

The money raised from the event will be split evenly between Delete Blood Cancer UK, a relatively new charity with a key mission to increase the pool of lifesaving donors and the Multiple Sclerosis Society, which uses donations to research MS.

The park’s customer care manager, Sue Ayre said: “We love to give back to the community through fundraising events like this and I am overwhelmed by the support received by our owners, their families and friends who contributed to making this such a memorable day.”
