THE historic Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond has announced a new chief executive officer.
Clare Allen will take over from the current chief executive, Warnock Kerr, on Tuesday, September 1.
Ms Allen has set up and run a village theatre in Ghana and later established the English Theatre of Bruges in 2007.
She has worked as the artistic director of the Mart Theatre in Skipton before taking up her current role as general manager at Stratford ArtsHouse which is also a registered charity.
Chairman of the Georgian Theatre Royal Trust Malcolm Bryant said: “We are delighted that Clare will be joining The Georgian Theatre Royal and feel sure that her professional skills, experience and personality will make a big contribution to the future leadership and development of this unique and magical venue.
"The theatre plays a significant role in the region through its artistic programme, talented youth theatre and the contributions it makes to heritage and tourism."
Ms Allen said: “It is a true privilege to be taking on this role at such a beloved, magnificent theatre, and to build on the strong foundations that Warnock Kerr, the staff, volunteers and trustees have put in place.
"I can't wait to begin work within such an exquisite setting and, equally, to live in the gorgeous town of Richmond.”
