A WILDFLOWER walk planned for Friday, May 29 will take place as planned but with alternative transport because of construction works affecting the Wensleydale Railway.

A special coach will leave from Leeming Bar Station at 10am, when the train would normally depart, stopping at Bedale at 10.08am, Finghall Station at 10.20am, and Leyburn Station at 10.35am, arriving at Redmire Station at 10.50am.

The six mile guided walk from Redmire to Leyburn will be escorted by local botanists and will start at 11am.

Walkers should bring a packed lunch and drinks.

The return coach will depart from Leyburn Market Place at 4.10pm, arriving at Leeming Bar Station at 5pm.

Walk organiser Ruth Annison said: "This event is part of the Millennium Trust's annual Flowers of the Dales Festival and we usually find about 60 different kinds of flowers, including some orchids, on this route in May."

To reserve seats on the coach call 01969 650349. The trip costs between £2 and £5 depending on which pick-up point is used.
