RUMOURS that a mothballed market town pub had been bought by TV Dragon and local entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne have been quashed.
The Fleece Hotel in Richmond closed abruptly in early January and was placed on the market with a guide price of £250,000 for the freehold.
Despite hopes that Mr Bannatyne would invest in the hotel, which has 21 bedrooms that have not been used for 20 to 30 years, it has now been confirmed there is no truth in the rumour.
A spokeswoman for Mr Bannatyne said he “completely denied any involvement” in any possible purchase of the property.
CBRE estate agent director Sam Frankland said six bids had been placed for the property on Friday – and that none were from the businessman.
