A BUDDING artist has donated her first painting to a charity pop-up gallery – which now hangs below her mother’s own offering.

Six-year-old Eden Porritt has been a keen artist since she was very young and is skilled in various techniques including lino-carving and batik.

Her mum, Nicole Graham, said Eden is now keen to create more works for the Pop-Up Gallery in Frenchgate, Richmond, run by local councillor Linda Curran to raise funds for local disability charity projects.

Ms Graham said: “I have always painted but never exhibited anything – I’ve never had the confidence.

“When Linda approached me and asked to include one of my paintings in the gallery it was quite a confidence boost.

“My painting is a sea scene in acrylic, and Eden has also done an acrylic painting of two people having a picnic on the top of a mountain overlooking the sea.”

She said she was delighted when Eden, a pupil at Richmond Methodist School, decided to paint a picture to donate to the charity gallery.

“I’m really proud that she thought of that, and it has definitely given her more confidence.

“She is really developing her art skills and always takes her time over her projects, but we do a lot of art and crafts as we both enjoy it.”

Cllr Curran said: “Eden was determined to help the Pop-Up Gallery and was keen to paint something special for us to sell.

“I hope this has inspired her to paint more. It is also fantastic that she is wanted to see her painting raise money for charity.”

The volunteer-run Pop Up Gallery is at 10b Frenchgate, Richmond, and is open from 10am to 4pm daily.
