PERSONNEL at a North Yorkshire air base enjoyed their own festival.
The RAF Leeming Families Day opened with a dramatic display of aircraft aerobatics provided by Flight Lieutenant Chris Lyndon-Smith of 100 Squadron in his Pitts Special.
There was also live music from local bands and the RAF Leeming Military Wives Choir and family entertainment with funfair rides, inflatable assault courses, a petting zoo and face-painting.
During the day, families also witnessed a low-flying display by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire, one of the most iconic fighter aircraft used by the RAF during the Second World War.
Families Day is a self-funded event held annually at RAF Leeming to thank personnel, their families and friends for all their hard work and support.
Squadron Leader Chris Ditch, head of the Families Day committee said: “The success of the event would not have been possible without the goodwill and hard work of the Families Day Committee who worked tirelessly over the past six months to ensure the day passed without any issues.
“Approximately 1000 people attended the event with family members travelling from all over the UK to enjoy a day that involved a plethora of activities that all the families appreciated.”
