WITH controversial fracking operations stepping up in the moors, a council is to consider hiring specialist consultants to examine relevant policies.
Third Energy has already begun preparatory work at its Kirby Misperton site, and with proposals from other companies in the pipeline for the North York Moors, Ryedale District Council has called an extraordinary meeting for Thursday.
Members will debate a proposal by Cllr Paul Andrews to hire specialist consultants to examine the county council’s joint minerals and waste plan which covers fracking policy.
Cllr Andrews said Ryedale Council will be expected to provide full professional representation for residents but could be disadvantaged if it does not harness the expertise of consultants experienced in specialist mineral planning.
