A STREET was cordoned off after police were called to deal with a man in a 'distressed state' in a seaside town.
North Yorkshire Police attended Ireton Street in Scarborough at around 7.30pm last night to help a man in a distressed state.
Officers spoke to him for several hours and the surrounding area was cordoned off to allow police to deal with the incident.
At around 11.20pm, the man, who is in his 20s, agreed to leave the scene with officers.
Nobody was injured.
He is currently in police custody and will receive the appropriate help and support.
