POLICE are investigating after a walker reported witnessing a bird of prey being shot on the North York Moors.
Officers say on Tuesday, September 19, the protected bird was killed near to Nab Scar and Sturdy Bank, which lie next to the Rosedale Iron Mine trail, near to Rosedale Abbey.
It has not revealed what species the bird was.
The walker witnessed it being shot by someone and reported it to the police.
It is not known what happened to the bird and North Yorkshire Police said they were unable to provide further details of the incident.
