GAMEKEEPERS from across the North York Moors have raised more than £5,000 for local charities through a series of fundraising events.

Gamekeepers from five different estates in the North Yorkshire Moors Moorland Organisation (NYMMO) took part in a tandem skydive which raised £2,736 for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Following that act of derring-do, a team from Snilesworth Estate raised £2,800 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) through events such as a shooters sweepstake during the shooting season.

Earlier this year, the NYMMO also presented the YAA with £9,157 raised from their efforts in 2016.

Kevin Hutchinson, Yorkshire Air Ambulance East Yorkshire community fundraiser, said: “As an independent charity we rely solely on support from individuals and organisations such as the NYMMO to ensure the continuation of Yorkshire’s lifesaving emergency service.

“We’d like to thank them for their continued support – since 2016 they have raised a phenomenal amount of money.”
