A SMALL plane flipped over after a pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a field in North Yorkshire.
The light aircraft came to rest upside down in a field in Gristhorpe, near Filey, a spokesman for North Yorkshire and Fire Rescue Service said.
Emergency services were called to a report of an aircraft crash at shortly before 6.25pm yesterday.
Fire crews from Scarborough, Filey and Tadcaster were despatched but, after police spoke to the pilot, the fire service was told that its crews were not required. One crew still attended.
"Crew from Scarborough, Filey and Tadcaster were mobilised to a report of a light aircraft down in a field. No fire service attendance was required as this was an emergency landing," said a spokesman.
