A TRIO of North York Moors farms will be throwing open their gates to visitors on June 11 as part of Open Farm Sunday.
Stepney Hill Farm near Scarborough, Botton Social Farm and Stonebeck Gate Farm at Little Fryup, both near Danby, will be highlighting life on a moorland farm and the vital role farmers play in looking after the countryside.
Stonebeck Gate Farm is hosting activities including sheep dog trials, a gun dog demonstration, sheep shearing and drystone walling.
Visitors can have their picture taken on one of the tractors while children can meet the resident pigs, cows, sheep and lambs.
Sally Ann Smith, of the North York Moors National Park Authority, said the event highlights awareness where our food comes from and the hard work that goes into producing it. The farms are open from 11am.
