NINE people have been injured and a driver airlifted to hospital after a three-vehicle crash on the A170, south of the North York Moors.
Police said the incident happened at about 9.50am today, near the Thirsk to Scarborough road's junction with Ampleforth and Wass, near Helmsley.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said one person had been cut out of a car by firefighters and was treated by a Great North Air Ambulance crew at the scene, before being flown to hospital.
He added it was not thought anyone had been seriously injured.
The road, which was closed between Sutton Bank and Helmsley following the crash, was reopened at 12.15pm.
