AN unexploded bomb has been destroyed by army bomb disposal experts.
The bomb was discovered on Tuesday morning on common land by Appleton-le-Moors near Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire by a metal detectorist.
Police believe it was a two-inch mortar bomb which was issued to the British Army and the Commonwealth armies during the Second World War.
Police made the scene safe overnight until the Army bomb disposal team arrived early on Wednesday morning. They destroyed the device shortly before 9am.
