HEAVY snow is causing problems for motorists this morning with several inches falling overnight in some parts of the region.
Police in North Yorkshire have warned drivers to take care as many roads are only passable with caution.
Safety camera images of Sutton Bank show heavy snow falling and the road partially covered.
The Met Office said isolated snow showers would continue across the North-East and North Yorkshire throughout the day, but become increasingly confined to the Pennines.
Tonight, strong winds are predicted with light snow showers possible on the hills.
Yellow warnings of snow and ice are in place for the North-East and North Yorkshire until Wednesday.
