STUNNING photographs submitted as winning entries to the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition are going on show in North Yorkshire.

For the first time the National Trust properties of Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terraces, near Helmsley, are staging a joint show when they re-open for the new season.

And from Saturday, February 14, they will be featuring spectacular winning images from the international event.

The photographs capture the magic and beauty of the natural world, with categories in the exhibition including garden wildlife, wildflowers, trees, woods and forests.

The visitor experience manager for both sites, James Etherington, said: “What better way to start a new year than to showcase the very best of the natural world on our doorsteps.

“We are the first northern host for this prestigious exhibition, as it opens in the south at Kew Gardens at the same time - it’s definitely not one to be missed.”

The exhibition will be shown at Nunnington Hall as part of their changing exhibition programme until March 22. The exhibition at Rievaulx will be open until April 19.
