A DEDICATED fundraiser did not miss the opportunity to help two charities when she went for a new hair cut.

Nicola Stewart, who regularly raises money for charity, decided to use the opportunity of going for a shorter hair style to donate her long locks to The Little Princess Trust. She also raised around £80 for Cancer Research UK in sponsorship.

The Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults up to the age of 24 that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Ms Stewart is no stranger to raising money for good causes as last year she gave up chocolate for four months to raise money for Zoe’s Place and four years ago she chopped off her hair to raise funds.

Emily Kitching, 24, stylist and owner of The Hair Barn hair salon based near Ingleby Arncliffe did the honours of cutting Nicola’s Hair for the most recent fundraising exploit.

Ms Stewart, 42, who lives in Ingleby Arncliffe, said: “Having lost family members to cancer, I decide to raise money for Cancer Research and at the same time donate my hair for wigs.

“Almost seven years ago I lost my mother in law Valerie to bone cancer, and prior to that I lost my grandma, Mavis to liver cancer, and also my grandad, George, to lung cancer.

“That was the reason why I chose Cancer Research UK.”
