A SUCCESSFUL car boot sale held by Northallerton Rotarians could become a regular Bank Holiday event.

Hundreds of people attended the sale which was organised by the Rotary Club of Northallerton Mowbray and held on the recent Whit holiday Monday.

The sale was held on the site of the Allertonshire School, and was so popular with the public that the club is considering making it a regular bank holiday event.

The club's president Ian Parminter said: “The weather was kind to us which helped enormously.

"But the numbers attending the sale clearly demonstrated an appetite for this kind of event in the town.”

Almost 30 sellers from the local area attended the event and there was a steady stream of browsers and buyers from 8.30am through to the close at lunchtime.

The club also had its own stall and a demonstration stand on Shelterboxes – which provide emergency shelter and vital aid to people affected by disasters worldwide.

And as an added bonus stall takings, the fees paid by the sellers and a bucket collection raised almost £400 for the various charities supported by Rotary, including Shelterbox.

Mr Parminter added: “I would like to thank all the sellers and buyers for attending and making it such a successful morning.”
