A SMALL North Yorkshire village is celebrating the best brewing the county has to offer with a two day beer festival.

The event in Danby Wiske, just outside Northallerton, will feature ten local beers, including a gluten-free variety and two bottled lagers.

And if beer’s not your drink of choice, there is also cider and even a Yorkshire wine.

The festival is a first for the village and aims to bring the wider community together to celebrate all things Yorkshire.

Local pies will be on sale to accompany the beer and on Saturday night local band “No Direction” are playing.

An for those that have the talent there will an opportunity to tickle the ivories on the village piano.

The event is being run by the Danby Wiske village hall committee. Chief organiser Adrian Farmer hopes the festival will help put the "small but vibrant village" on the map.

“We would love to see people from all over the county come and celebrate the best Yorkshire has to offer," he said.

"We’ve had fantastic support from local businesses and nearby breweries and have tried to keep everything that’s on sale as local as possible.

"We’ve got Yorkshire beer, Yorkshire wine, Yorkshire pies, Yorkshire crisps and while we couldn’t find a Yorkshire Prosecco, it was at least bought here.”

The festival will run at the village hall on Friday, April 27, from 5pm to 11pm and on Saturday, April 28, from noon to 11pm.

Adult entrance costs £3 - which will include a programme and a specially-designed glass. Admission is free for children.
