UP to 5,000 visitors got into gear to inspect dozens of spectacular classic cars lined up for a town's first vintage rally.

Nearly 100 classic cars came from all over the country for the rally in Northallerton's High Street on Easter Sunday. It was organised by the town's Business Improvement District with backing from the Golden Lion's George and Tyrone Crow and Maxwell's Electricals.

Northallerton Rotarians acted as marshals for the rally which attracted a huge range of vehicles from vintage Rolls Royces to sports cars, vans and motorcycles.

Julia Chance, manger of BID said: "We are thrilled to bits with the success of our very first Classic Car Rally and it's wonderful to see the love and devotion the owners bestow on their amazing vehicles."
