A FAMILY-RUN business has helped raise £1,500 for a hospice care charity which provides support to people in North Yorkshire.

Sam Turner & Sons in Northallerton recently held its annual Sammie’s Sunday Fun-Day, with all the funds raised supporting Herriot Hospice Homecare.

There was lots for families to see and do in the grounds of the farming and gardening store, including farm animals, face-painting, inflatables, climbing wall, trampolining, ferret racing, birds of prey and reptile show.

There was also a hog roast, pizza shed and Yorkshire Dales ice cream.

Raffle prizes featured a lawnmower, strimmer, bird table, a Gruffalo carving. One of the Yorkshire Vets, Peter Wright, from the popular television programme filmed in Thirsk, also dropped in to join the fun.

Herriot assistant fundraiser Paula Moore said: “Sam Turner & Sons are long-standing supporters of Herriot Hospice Homecare and their continued we are exceptionally for their continued generosity and dedication to the charity.

“The fantastic fundraising totally from the fun day will help us provide more care and support to local families affected by terminal illness and bereavement across Hambleton and Richmondshire.

Charlie Turner, one of the directors at Sam Turner & Sons, said: “My grandmother received end of life care from Herriot Hospice Homecare so this is one of the many reasons we have always been pleased to support the charity.

“The total of £1,500 raised in the fun day is great and we would like to thank everyone who attended, donated prizes or bought a raffle ticket.”

Sam Turner & Sons are one of the founding members of Herriot’s 1992 Club, a corporate fundraising initiative set up to mark the charity’s 25th anniversary in 2017.

Members of the club are committed to donating or raising £1,992 for the charity during its anniversary year. The current fundraising figure stands at £1,857.

Herriot Hospice Homecare is inviting other local and regional companies to join the group and forge a valuable partnership with their local hospice.
