LANDSCAPE photographer Joe Cornish doesn’t stay still for long. No sooner had he returned from a workshop in Iceland a couple of months ago than he packed his equipment up again and headed off to catch the vivid beauty of Colorado in the United States. But his roots are deep in the North-East, which he finds endlessly inspiring. An exhibition of Joe’s latest stunning photographs of the region is being launched with a talk on October 27 at the Joe Cornish Gallery, in Zetland Street, Northallerton.

“All the pictures in the show have been made during the past twelve months. After some difficult years, something changed in 2017, and I seemed to rediscover creative flow and momentum, and maybe some confidence. Travelling widely has been stimulating, but my most productive times have been at home in the North-East,” says Joe.

“Given the turmoil in the political outlook at home and abroad, my photographic practice has brought solace; being immersed in the landscape is a reminder of the cycles of the seasons, the fundamental laws of nature and the resilience of life.”

  • New Work – photographs by Joe Cornish, October 27-November 30. Tickets for the launch and talk can be bought at the gallery.

2018 calendars

A beautiful Christmas gift, Joe Cornish 2018 calendars are now available from the Northallerton gallery and the website. Both the signature Northern Light calendar and the smaller Desk & Wall calendar feature Joe’s images of the varied landscapes of the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland and the Lake District. Prints are also available at the gallery, mounted or framed, as well as a great selection of other artwork and gift cards.

Cheers!

To ensure that you can celebrate the start of the weekend in style, the Joe Cornish Gallery is now staying up late with a Pop-up-Bar in the Gallery Cafe on the last Friday of each month.
