TWO LEADING mountaineers are to present fundraising talks to raise money for Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team (MRT).

Doug Scott CBE and Chris Brown MBE will present a talk, Achieving the Dream, at the Forum in Northallerton on Wednesday, December 6.

Chris Brown is a North Yorkshire farmer, who in 1999 became only the tenth Briton to climb the seven highest peaks in each continent. Described as an “inspirational speaker” he will also be supporting the Harrogate-based charity Claro Enterprises which helps people suffering mental health problems.

Doug Scott CBE has climbed extensively throughout the world since the 1960s, including the first ascent of Mount Everest by the South-West face. He has gained many awards in recognition of his mountaineering achievements and his charitable work in Nepal. He will also be supporting a charity he founded, Community Action Nepal.

The event, at the Forum will also raise money for Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) in Great Ayton.

The charity’s volunteers are on call 24 hours a day to help those lost or injured in remote areas of the region, including the North York Moors. So far this year they have dealt with more than 40 incidents ranging from fallen climbers to crashed mountain bikers and walkers who have slipped.
