AN AWARD-winning youth theatre is preparing to stage its production of the hit musical Legally Blonde.

Crash Bang Wallop (CBW) Youth Theatre, based in Stokesley, is currently in the final week of rehearsals for the show, which will be staged at The Forum in Northallerton from Wednesday, July 12 to Saturday, July 15.

Legally Blonde is based on the 2001 movie starring Reese Witherspoon.

It tells the story of fashionable socialite Elle Woods, who is shocked when instead of receiving an eagerly anticipated marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, he informs her she is not serious enough to be part of his life plan as he’s heading to Harvard Law School and expects to become a senator by the age of 30.

She challenges him and in doing so discovers there is more to life and herself than she realised.

CBW Youth Theatre recently won a NODA Youth Award for its production of West Side Story. The children’s charity, which was set up in 2005 by professional actor Dan Brookes, meets regularly at its studio in Stokesley and performs two shows a year at The Forum.

  • The show runs from Wednesday, July 12 to Saturday, July 15, at The Forum, Northallerton. The evening shows start at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
  • Tickets are £11 adults and £9 concessions and can be bought by calling 01609-776230 or online at forumnorthallerton.org.uk
