A CARE home is looking for talented local artists to exhibit their work in a forthcoming art exhibition.
Mount Vale Care Home, on Yafforth Road in Northallerton, is looking for both professional and amateur artists, ranging from photographers to basket weavers, to display their work in the historic home.
The home staged its first ever art exhibition last year and is hoping to recreate its success again this year, with a display on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18.
One of the home’s own residents, Richard Douglas, 80, a well-known Methodist artist, will be exhibiting some of his work again. He began painting eighteenth century scenes inspired by John Wesley’s writings after going to work as a missionary in Namibia, Africa, when he was 20. After 13 years in South-West Africa he returned to England and took up a post at Eskdale School in Whitby, teaching religion and art.
The exhibition will run from 11am until 4pm.
Anyone interesting in taking part in the exhibition can contact the care home on 01609-775444 or email activities co-ordinator Rebecca Clark on Rebecca.Clark@barchester.com
