HAMBLETON’S new triathlon club has got off to a running start.
The new club, HaTric saw more than 30 participants take part in its Go Tri event last weekend, which consisted of a 200m swim following by a 2k run.
“Go Tri is a fun way to access triathlon for the first time and it was marvellous to see so many new faces as well as those that took part in the first one,” said Councillor Bridget Fortune, portfolio holder for leisure.
“There was a broad range of ages and abilities and they all put in a brilliant effort and enjoyed the competition despite the heat.”
HaTric are organising a series of “Go Tri” events. The next one takes place on June 17 at Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centre, which will be open to juniors as well as adults.
Training sessions in swimming, cycling or running take place at the Thirsk leisure centre which have been designed for beginners with manageable distances. For more details contact David Earl on 01609-767202 or david.earl@hambleton.gov.uk
