POLICE have named the woman who died in a crash on the A19 as Patricia 'Jenny' Cresswell from Northallerton.

Mrs Cresswell, 70, died after her car collided with an HGV on March 2 at the Husthwaite junction near Easingwold.

Mrs Cresswell was driving her grey Toyota Avensis on the A19 travelling south towards York when it collided with a white Scania HGV, minus the trailer.

The driver of the lorry, a 66-year-old man from the Northallerton area, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He currently remains on police bail whilst the investigation continues.

Police are also reissuing the appeal for witnesses to the collision who may not have yet come forward, to please contact them.

It happened at 9.20am and anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the Scania or the Toyota Avensis before the collision or who helped at the scene before the emergency services’ arrival is asked to contact police.
