SCHOOL children have joined Hambleton District Council’s battle against the scourge of dog muck on the streets.

Broomfield Primary School in Northallerton invited the council’s dog warden Dave Granger, Alison Gray from Dogs Trust with her dog Mollie and PCSO Angie Preston into their school so that they could find out more about responsible dog ownership.

The children learned all about the diseases carried in dog muck and were told about the efforts made by the dog warden services to encourage owners to clear it up.

Youngsters designed posters highlighting the problem and the winning posters were displayed on the streets around the school.

Councillor Stephen Watson, portfolio holder for environmental health, said: “I would like to offer my congratulations to the youngsters for getting involved.
